Protecting the Environment
Background
To protect the environment, many countries including the USA, Canada and members of the European Union are working on recycling programs.
Production of Verso equipment requires the extraction and use of natural resources, and therefore equipment may contain hazardous substances impacting health and the environment. At the end-of-life, the equipment becomes hazardous waste.
The following measures were recently established by the European Union* in order to:
- Prevent the generation of electrical and electronic waste and to promote reuse, recycling and other forms of recovery in order to reduce the quantity of such waste.
- Encourage designers to create products that can be recycled.
The EU Directive 2002/95 – the RoHS legislation (Restriction of the use of certain Hazardous Substances in electrical and electronics equipment)
Verso is committed to comply with the European Union's RoHS Directive 2002/95/EC. This RoHS Directive restricts substances in electrical and electronics equipment including:
- Mercury
- Cadmium
- Hexavalent chromium
- Polybrominated biphenyls
- Polybrominated diphenyl ethers
- Lead
Verso has worked with all its suppliers to ensure that all components of its products are in full compliance with the RoHS Directive. Our RoHS compliance is certified by:
- The RoHS Declaration of Conformance – To be found in the Installation Guide available on the CD-Rom shipped with each unit
- The RoHS label on the equipment
The EU Directive 2002/96 - the WEEE legislation (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment)
To avoid the dissemination of hazardous substances in our environment and to diminish the pressure on the natural resources, we encourage you to use the appropriate take-back systems. The take-back system will reuse or recycle most of your end-of-life equipment material.
Disposal of Waste Equipment
This symbol on our product nameplates indicates that this product must not be disposed of with your other waste. You must dispose of this product by handing it over to a designated collection point for the recycling of electrical and electronic equipment waste. Contact your local city office or your waste disposal service for more information on the collection.
Débarras des équipements usagés
Ce symbole sur l'étiquette de nos produits indique que vous ne pouvez pas vous en débarrasser de la même façon que vous vous débarrassez des déchets courants. Vous êtes tenu de le remettre à un point de collecte agréé pour le recyclage des équipements électriques et électroniques usagés. Contacter votre mairie ou votre centre de traitement des déchets pour plus d'informations sur la collecte.
Entsorgung von Elektrogeräten
Dieses Symbol auf dem Produkt oder dessen Verpackung gibt an, dass das Produkt nicht zusammen mit dem Restmüll entsorgt werden darf. Es obliegt daher Ihrer Verantwortung, das Gerät an einer entsprechenden Stelle für die Entsorgung oder Wiederverwertung von Elektrogeräten aller Art abzugeben (z.B. ein Wertstoffhof). Weitere Informationen darüber, wo Sie alte Elektrogeräte zum Recyceln abgeben können, erhalten Sie bei den örtlichen Behörden, Wertstoffhöfen oder dort, wo Sie das Gerät erworben haben.

Questo simbolo che appare sul prodotto indica che il prodotto non deve essere smaltito assieme agli altri rifiuti domestici. Gli utenti devono provvedere allo smaltimento delle apparecchiature da rottamare portandole al luogo di raccolta indicato per il riciclaggio delle apparecchiature elettriche ed elettroniche. Contattare il proprio comune di residenza o il servizio di smaltimento dei rifiuti locale per ulteriori informazioni sui punti di raccolta delle apparecchiature da rottamare.

Este símbolo en el producto indica que no se puede desechar el producto junto con los residuos domésticos. Por el contrario, es responsabilidad del usuario entregarlo en un punto de recolección designado de reciclado de aparatos electrónicos y eléctricos.
