For Diego Della Valle, it all began in the late 70's when he launched his signature shoe, a luxury moccasin named Gommino with a spiked rubber sole.
The Tod’s shoe expresses a lifestyle: handmade, perfect for every occasion, comfortable but chic and are basically indispensable in the fashion intelligentsia's wardrobe.
Modern footwear could have been completely different if Della Valle had followed his father's advice to become a lawyer! The designer proved to have a knack in marketing when he used product placement to start a hype around his moccasins. He kindly offered a pair of Gomminos to the Gianni Agnelli, president of Fiat, who decided to wear them for a television appearance: the rest is history. In 1997, Della Valle expanded his brand to include quality handbags. All of Tod's products are made in Italy.
