Verso NetPerformer SDM-9210GSM backhaul optimization with an integrated access router offering maximum performance and superior convergence capabilitiesAward-winning compression technology designed specifically for cellular operators that need to reduce infrastructure costs and alleviate bandwidth constraints without sacrificing Quality of Service, reliability, or performance. Cut bandwidth needs by 50% or more The SDM-9210 supports Verso's GSM Backhaul solution, which optimizes bandwidth utilization for GSM A-bis, A-ter, A and E interfaces. It reduces operating costs for carriers by as much as 50% and by approximately 90% for GSM A/E. This frees capacity for the delivery of competitive new services, enables carriers to rapidly deploy extra capacity and to increase revenue without the installation of new lines. Unparalleled bandwidth optimization On A-bis/ter channels where voice is already compressed, NetPerformer can further optimize bandwidth by a factor of 2:1 or more. It converts the traffic from TDM to a more efficient packetbased format without any GSM codec transcoding that would otherwise affect the voice quality. Signaling and OA&M are also optimized and compressed to reduce bandwidth to a minimum while maintaining QoS. Scalability, flexibility and full feature GSM support The SDM-9210 is capable of interfacing with any BTS/BSC equipment vendor. It is the only GSM optimization equipment that provides G.823 PDH compliant clocking at the BTS so handovers can be executed without any loss in quality of service. SDM-9210 units are equipped with 1, 2 or 4 T1/E1 ports. A large selection of DSP SIMMS is available to handle as many TRXs as needed, ensuring maximum scalability and flexibility. Extend the power of convergence New services such as Wi-Fi/WiMAX hotspots can share the same network infrastructure when deployed with NetPerformer's IP routing and data compression support. This contributes to revenue growth from new services while reducing the cost of managing the network. WAN Flexibility The SDM-9210 uses a variety of WAN infrastructures: serial, Ethernet or digital leased lines, satellite, or packet-based networks such as IP and Frame Relay. This feature lets network operators choose the most economical or most readily available network facilities. It also provides the option to migrate to a different network infrastructure with no additional cost. Enhanced satellite access capabilities Verso has partnerships with the major satellite vendors providing support for SCPC, TDMA, and IP broadband satellite technologies. Carriers can operate a hybrid satellite/terrestrial topology over a single platform, further reducing costs and minimizing complexity. High availability The GSM Backhaul solution supports alternate routing and can automatically switch to another WAN if needed. For remote sites where technical staff may not be available, 1:1 hardware redundancy is also supported. The new E1/T1 interfaces have integrated relays that support E1 bypass in case of power or hardware failure. Additional 1:1 redundancy is possible with the simple use of Y-cables and advanced monitoring software that switches units automatically in case of failure. Comprehensive network management The Verso ACTview® 3000 application is an advanced GUI tool that uses the industry-standard HP OpenView® NMS platform to provide a comprehensive configuration, monitoring, and network control. The user can manage the NetPerformer network and other platforms from a single network management station, avoiding the redundancies and costs associated with multiple NMS platforms.
